I’ve been journaling since 2020.

In the beginning, I’ll be honest: I hated it.

I saw it as a chore; just another box to tick off every day.

I thought I had to follow a specific "morning routine" to be successful.

But that rigid approach didn't give me clarity.

It just gave me more work.

Everything changed when I switched to a "chill" approach.

I stopped forcing it.

I started journaling whenever I felt like it.

Sometimes I write short paragraphs; sometimes it's a poem.

Sometimes I write letters to people that I never intend to send.

The moment I let go of the "rules," I started reaping the rewards.

The impact has been massive across my entire life.

I’m less angry. I’m more happy.

I ruminate on negative thoughts way less than I used to.

There is an undeniable power in simply putting thoughts into writing.

It pulls the chaos out of your mind and puts it safely on the page.

Here is how you can build a "chill" journaling habit today:

  • Write Whenever You Feel Like It: Don’t wait for 5 AM. If your head feels heavy at 2 PM, grab a pen.

  • Alternate Your Style: You don't need a template. Write a poem, a list, or a short letter to your future self. Whatever gives you freedom.

  • Value the Release: Don't worry about being "profound" or "artistic." Focus on how much lighter you feel afterward.

Putting thoughts onto paper is the ultimate way to stop ruminating.

Give yourself permission to be messy and inconsistent.
